LA Dodgers Pittcher nominated for Sportsman of the Year in the Netherlands

Los Angeles-based Dodger Sniper Kennley Jansen was in the top 11 of the `Sportsman of the Year` poll in the Netherlands. The baseball player has been nominated for the prize together with Tom Djoumule, Dylan Groenevegen and Bauke Mollema (cycling), Michael van Gerven (darts), Sneh Knegt (shortcut), Sven Kramer, Kield Neuss and Jan Smeckens (skating), Max Vertappen) and Ferry Werthman (swimming marathon). Besides Yansen, on the proposal of the Royal Baseball and Softball Association of the Netherlands (KNBSB), two other American star players compete in the voting list;Rick Van den Hurk (Fukuoka Softbank Hawks, Yap) and Roger Bernadina (Kia Tigers, Cor). Baseball has traditions in the poll -;the national breeders Robert Enhorn (2007) and Brian Farley (2011) were nominated for `Coach of the Year` and the representative team of `Orange` was Team of the Year in 2011 when he became world champion.

The winners of this year`s vote will be announced on December 3rd. An obvious favorite for `Sportsman of the Year` in the Netherlands in 2017 is the winner of Italy`s Cycling Tour Tom Dummulen.
